Propecia (finasteride) can be recommended for patients with thinning of the hair on the scalp, condition known as male pattern baldness. This drug is not supposed to be taken by female patients, especially those that may get pregnant or already pregnant. The active ingredient of this medicine can harm an unborn child. Propecia should be taken by males only and is never supposed to be shared with females or handled by them. Propecia will remain efficient for as long as you take it. This means that once you have stopped the treatment – all the progress will be lost within a one-year period. Therefore, before starting the treatment make sure you think about whether you will be able to carry on with the treatment for long enough to benefit. Before starting to take Propecia tell your doctor if you have bladder muscle disorder, stricture of your urethra, abnormal liver enzyme tests, liver disease, inability to urinate or trouble urinating, prostate cancer, or any other conditions that may affect the success of your treatment. Side effects of Propecia are not numerous and include the following ones: impotence, headache, weakness, runny nose, dizziness, swelling or tenderness in your breasts, pain in the testicles, abnormal ejaculation, swelling in your hands or feet, and skin rash.
